On Tonight, Movable Type, Hear You Me
On Tonight (Houston, TX)
"Energetic" and "Melodic." These are the two words most used to describe the sound of Houston-based rock band ON TONIGHT, though many other words can also do the job. Through vocalist/rhythm guitarist Dave Ng's punk and R&B leanings, Lead Guitarist Marc Hamilton's honky-tonk and metal stylings, the Tejano and classic rock upbringing of Brian May-endorsed bassist Juan Cantu and the influence of big-band and emo on drummer James Bonelli, OT has crafted an eclectic sound that hints of Foo Fighters, Social Distortion, Sick Of It All, John Mellencamp, Alkaline Trio, The Gaslight Anthem and Merle Haggard, sometimes within a single song.
On Tonight crafts highly accessible songs that outline themes such as success and setbacks, positivity and fond remembrances, melded perfectly into driving beats, emotive musical arrangements and powerful vocal melodies.
Seeing On Tonight live is an in-your-face experience...literally. hard-hitting drums and rock-solid bass supporting masterful guitar work and plenty of stage energy that ultimately spills out into a crowd of eager participants, singing in unison and leaving it all out on the floor. It's this camaraderie that OT strives for and expects at every one of its shows.
With a 4-song EP out now and more tunes on the way, On Tonight is ready to bring its brand of rock to any stage it sets foot on.
Movable Type (Houston, TX)
Hear You Me (Houston, TX)
Hear You Me has existed in one form or another since 2006. Starting out as a 2 piece, guitar and drums act playing shows around Houston and north side suburbs. A year or so later the band was joined by it's first bass player Jesse Flores and the group tried to record an album. This record was never heard and likely won't be ever. Some time later the band regrouped with a new bassist (Michael Sano), and then another (Jason Cessna) and then another (Thom Truver), and then back to Jason, and then another (Sean Himmel) and then a bit of limbo and back to Jason. Which leaves us here in the present with Jason Cessna on bass once again, bringing his lavish and bold flavor to an already spicy dish.
