We all love stories, especially stories about family. Sadly, though, if you don’t share the stories and record them, you can lose your family’s story within three generations. This is what happens in most families, but this is a trend worth altering, because gathering family stories is such an enriching and rewarding process. Do you have family photographs fading in scrapbooks, old letters between your parents, a diamond pendent from your grandmother, trinkets you accumulated from your travels, or other documents that are lying fallow in a closet? These can be seeds for amazing family stories. Join us as we study how personal letters, family albums, newspaper clippings, and similar artifacts can be used to create a compelling story. We’ll also practice writing scenes and using literary devices to shape our stories. Participants may bring artifacts and writing projects in progress, but this isn’t a requirement.
