Anchor Point's "Empowered To Connect" Live Simulcast - 4/5-6
Anchor Point is excited to bring "The Empowered To Connect Conference Simulcast" to Houston (in partnership with ShowHope). It is a two-day conference for anyone interested in learning more about how to connect with children that are struggling. We especially know this is the case with kids that have experienced abuse, neglect and trauma. Research has shown that children who have experienced a difficult pregnancy, difficult birth or prematurity are also ones that may struggle. It does not matter whether this child is in a biologically intact home or from an adoptive home -- each of these children needs the help and hope from teachers, counsellors, family, friends and more to ultimately thrive in this world. Led by the Karyn Purvis Child Development Institute at Texas Christian University, this conference is ideal for those who are serving and supporting these families, including social workers, agency professionals, school teachers and counsellors, church staff and ministry leaders, counsellors, therapists and others. While this conference will focus on a child from a traumatized background, you will find that Trust-Based Relational Intervention works well even for connecting with children who are not struggling. Conferences sessions will be held from 9:00am-5:15pm on both days. Light refreshments will be provided during breaks throughout the event, with “on your own” lunch breaks scheduled from 12-1:30pm. You will have the opportunity to meet many who are involved in the care of children from hard places throughout the conferences. You will also be able to learn about the work of Anchor Point locally to assist these kids and their families. We are excited to share that the 2019 Empowered to Connect Conference has been approved by the National Association of Social Workers for 11 continuing education credits. You will be issued a badge with a specific code to use at the CEU check-in station each morning and afternoon. Additional details and registration are available here. Please note that simulcast viewers seeking NASW credit will be required to complete a post-test and receive a score of 80% or above to receive a certificate. Parents will receive a certificate of attendance. The certificates will be handed out at the end of the conference. Only those participating in both days will receive credit. Attendees are responsible for providing the certificate to their agency, and it is at the agency's discretion whether or not to count participation toward training credits.
