Battleship TEXAS Normandy Invasion Hard Hat Tour - OCTOBER 20, 2018 2:00pm
This special 2.5 hour tour of the TEXAS places an emphasis on the naval aspect of the Normandy invasion, code named Neptune. As part of our Specialty Hard Hat Tour Series, this tour weaves the story of this watershed event spotlighting the contributions of the Battleship TEXAS and the U.S. and Royal Navies. We'll have a chance to visit some spaces which are closed to the general public - spaces and weapons that played such a major role in the invasion. You'll marvel at individual crew members’ duties, actions, and sacrifice, and learn and how they relate to the overall success of the ship and Allies in carrying out this great endeavor. We’ll discuss the invasion’s genesis, it’s planning, the problems, decisions made along the way, and the execution - and be able to do so on the ship that was instrumental in that operation’s success nearly 75 years ago. If you have wanted to learn more about the ship and see areas with a guided tour that is not part of the public tour or even our regular Hard Hat Tour, then this is your chance. Space is very limited as the groups are is kept small. Tours departs promptly at 2:00 pm. Guests must be 14 years of age or older. The tour is hosted by the First Texas Volunteers, in cooperation with Battleship Texas Foundation and Texas Parks & Wildlife. Please note: If you would like to book a small group and there are not enough tickets available through the system, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can make arrangements to accomodate you.
